Bob Harlow – San Clemente Oceanfest Artist

By Community

It is said, follow your dreams and the money won’t be far behind. Long time San Clemente resident and artist Bob Harlow is one of the lucky ones who chose this path and it’s resulted in quite a successful and satisfying life.

Bob grew up on our beloved T-Street, with his 5 brothers and 1 sister and his parents still live in that very same childhood home to this day. He says his calling to draw surf cartoons came to him at a very young age.

“I started sending in my submissions to Surfer magazine when I was 10 years old, I remember running to the mailbox everyday hoping for that congratulatory letter from surfer, sadly none ever came.”

San Clemente Website Design built our website back in 2010, and have been with me from the beginning. One thing about SCWD is that they will work hard to get things exactly how I would like them on the site; they have been a lifesaver for me. If I need a change, SCWD is on it and this is very critical since the website may be a potential clients first-glimpse of the business. They bring creativity along with mad skills to the table.

Look around and you’ll see a trend out there. Keep it simple and get back to the basics. The Kettlebell workout is a perfect example of that.

Have you heard of the new trend in working-out taking the workout set by storm, Kettlebell training? The kettlebell is a traditional Russian cast iron weight that looks like a cannonball with a handle on it; the design is very simple, very basic and extremely effective. The kettlebell workout can be completed within about 45 minutes and not only will you see results almost immediately, you’ll be feeling it.

San Clemente is home to one of the top Kettlebell training studios around with some of the most professionally trained instructors, North Beach Kettlebell.

June Message

Message from Deb

To most of us in So Cal, June is the official kick-off to summer. Beach days with new friends, music, parties and celebrations. Seems like SCWD’s summer calendar is falling right in line with this theme.

For starters, we joined the San Clemente Chamber of Commerce last month, so you’ll probably start to see our name out around town and beyond more and more. I’m also happy to announce SCWD is giving back to our community as a proud sponsor of the Doheny Surf Festival being held August 11th-12th benefiting our local beaches and State Parks. It’s a weekend celebration jammed packed with all things food, music and art aimed at saving our beloved beaches. Stay tuned, when their website goes live you’ll be able to purchase tickets or reserve a booth for your business with online ease. And finally, I’m once again proud to announce the successful launch of a few more websites; check them out below.

Backing Up Your WordPress Website

By Tech Review

How important is backing up your website?  In my opinion, it’s essential.   If you depend on people finding your website in order to contact you, place an order, or get directions, you need your website live.

I recommend WordPress for many of the websites we develop at SCWD because of its powerful and simple admin panel.  One of the great things about WordPress is that you have the ability to add content without needing to know HTML coding. You can add pages, change verbiage, add events or blog posts, change your phone number – all without having to call your web designer and pay an hourly rate.   This lets you have control of your content and not be dependent on anyone else’s schedule to make your changes for you.

Wendy Yoder at Zebra House

By Community

Tonight, June 1st from 6-9 pm come check out the art of the talented local San Clemente Photo Documentarian, Wendy Yoder at Zebra House Coffee 1001 S. El Camino Real. The artist will be hanging-out discussing her work. Plus, there will be free live entertainment by local multi-talented Dick Hoye who’ll be singing and playing keyboard.

Since opening last August, Zebra House Coffee has been regularly showcasing the work of local artists and with no charge to them. But on one-condition, the artist must donate a portion of their sales from the showing to a charity of their choice. Wendy Yoder’s charity of choice is FAM, Family Assistance Ministries, a charity very near and dear to both Yoder and the McIlwees.

“I’ve chosen to donate 100% of the proceeds of my sales to FAM,” said Yoder.
